Central Portuguese Way

The most traditional route, followed since the Middle Ages, passes through iconic cities such as Barcelos, home of the legendary Barcelos Rooster, and Ponte de Lima, the oldest town in Portugal, with its Roman bridge and pilgrimage tradition.

Next comes the challenging climb up the Serra da Labruja, where the verdant and spiritual landscape prepares the heart for the journey to Valença do Minho. Here, the path crosses the metal bridge on foot, connecting Portugal to Spain and leading the pilgrim to Tui and from there to Santiago de Compostela.
